Description
Richard Gayler lives and works in Los Angeles, CA. A self-taught artist, he has worked in various mediums including assemblage, painting, encaustic, photography, linocuts, and collage. His current focus is on drawing, using his own stippling technique. Mr. Gayler’s art includes both abstract and figurative subjects, and often includes themes of societal issues and social awareness.
He has been exhibited locally at galleries including: Launch LA (Tarfest 2020), Los Angeles; Brand Library and Art Center, Glendale CA; Pierce College, Los Angeles; Gallery 825-Los Angeles Art Association, Los Angeles; BG Gallery Bergamot Station, Santa Monica CA; LA Artcore, Los Angeles; Art Share LA, Los Angeles; ShockBoxx Gallery, Hermosa Beach CA; La Luz de Jesus Gallery, Los Angeles; Marina del Rey Library, Marina del Rey CA; and several online exhibitions. Richard was the 2019 recipient of the Brand Library and Art Center?s Jane Friend Award for his work in Brand 47, Works on Paper. He was selected to represent Los Angeles Art Association in StARTup Art Fair-Los Angeles, 2017. He was profiled in the May 2018 issue Voyage LA Magazine, and was an artist participant in Art for Hearts, a fundraiser for Pico Youth and Family Center in Venice, CA.
