Description
Maria Bjorkdahl is a Swedish-Moroccan visual artist currently living and working in Los Angeles, California. She make paintings out of manipulated cotton duck, folded, sewn, cut, unraveled, re-assembled and painted with oil and/or acrylic. Bjorkdahl’s art practice centers on ideas of unearthing multiple layers and buried memories. She ennjoys the idea of using materiality and process to mine ideas of the unknowable and is often interested in leaving the object open ended on the readability side to allow for a wide range of interpretations.
