John Simon Taylor acquired his extensive knowledge of the antiques trade starting at an early age, surrounded by his family’s furniture and antiques business in northern California. While pursuing a degree in Industrial Art from the University of San Francisco, he was offered a position in the Executive Buying Program of Macy’s California as an assistant buyer. For the next 22 years he worked for Macy’s California and Macy’s New York in store planning, merchandise coordination, and as Senior Executive Buyer specializing in antiques and furniture accessories. Since 1996 he has owned a shop in Pasadena’s antiques district, as well as being established at the Pasadena Antique Center.

John enjoys travelling throughout his native California, indulging his passion for the state’s art and architecture, from Arts and Crafts to Mid-century modern, and collecting classic cars.
