Moran’s will next feature a luxury auction in May and already has a winning selection of clothing and accessories ready for the sale.
Gorgeous handbags and accessories from prominent designers were among the top lots of the day. A stunning and brightly-colored Hermès 35cm Birkin bag created a stir when it hit the block, selling to a determined phone bidder for $8,125 (all prices realized include Moran’s 25% buyer’s premium). A classic Chanel Diana small flap bag in luxurious lambskin was brought out many times during the public preview and sold for $2,125. A white Hermès Constance bag was a hit at the block, soaring past it’s high estimate of $1,200 to bring $2,000.
A fine selection of dresses and gowns are surely bound for holiday soirees. A fuschia Christian Dior New York evening gown from the 1950s was based on the Soirée d’Asie dress designed for the Autumn/Winter 1955 collection and brought $938 at the block. A delightful coral pink ruched Irish linen evening gown from Sybil
Connolly sold to a determined Invaluable bidder who took home the dress for $938. An orange version of the Sybil Connolly dress brought $625 at the block.
Aside from classic handbags, cozy knits and accessories were the big hits of the auction. A cashmere and wool blanket from Hermès with its buttery soft texture was snatched up by a determined online bidder for $594. An equally soft cashmere shawl also by Hermès will surely keep the buyer warm this winter and realized $562.
